Asforthelittleroomwithin,itoffer\'dlittleornoconsolationtous:\'twasadamp,coldcloset,withahalfdismantledwindow-

Rejected:inasmuchasMonsieurisnotworthaROBEDECHAMBRE;hehavingnothinginhisportmanteaubutsixshirtsandablacksilkpairofbreeches。

Thementioningthesilkpairofbreechesmadeanentirechangeofthearticle,-forthebreecheswereacceptedasanequivalentfortheROBEDECHAMBRE;andsoitwasstipulatedandagreedupon,thatIshouldlieinmyblacksilkbreechesallnight。

3dly。Itwasinsisteduponandstipulatedforbythelady,thatafterMonsieurwasgottobed,andthecandleandfireextinguished,thatMonsieurshouldnotspeakonesinglewordthewholenight。

Granted;providedMonsieur\'ssayinghisprayersmightnotbedeemedaninfractionofthetreaty。

Therewasbutonepointforgotinthistreaty,andthatwasthemannerinwhichtheladyandmyselfshouldbeobligedtoundressandgettobed;-therewasbutonewayofdoingit,andthatI
