6。Iftheanusgetsinflamed,andthereispain,fever,afrequentdesireofgoingtostoolwithoutpassinganything,andtheanusappearstoprotrude,owingtotheinflammation,andifattimesstrangurycomeon,thisdiseaseisformed,whenphlegm,collectedfromthewholebody,isdeterminedtotherectum。Warmthingsarebeneficialinthiscase;forthese,whenapplied,canattenuateanddissolvethephlegm,anddilutetheacridandsaltparticles,sothattheheatsubsides,andtheirritationintherectumisremoved。

Whereforeitistobetreatedthus:Thepatientistobeputintoahip—bathofhotwater,andsixtygrainsofthegranagnidiaaretobepoundedandinfusedinaheminaofwine,withhalfaheminaofoil,andinjected。Thisbringsawayphlegmandfaeces。Whenthepatientdoesnottakethehip—bath,boileggsindark—coloredfragrantwine,andapplytotheanus,andspreadtotheanus,andspreadsomethingwarmbelow,eitherabladderfilledwithwarmwater,orlinseedtoastedandground,anditsmealstirredupandmixedequallywithdark,fragrantwine,andoil,andthisappliedverywarmasacataplasm;or,havingmixedbarleyandEgyptianalumpulverized,formintoanoblongball(suppository?)andwarmingitgentlyatthefire,makeitintoacataplasm,foment,formitintoshapewiththefingers,andthenmakingitquitetepid,introduceitintotheanus。

Theexternalpartsaretobeanointedwithcerate,andacataplasmofboiledgarlic,withdarkwinediluted,istobeapplied。Butifyouremovethesethings,lethimtakethehip—bathofhotwater,andhavingmixedtogetherthejuiceofsrychnos,thegreaseofagoose,swine\'sseam,chrysocolla,resin,andwhitewax,andthenhavingmeltedinthesameandmixedtogether,anointwiththesethings,andwhiletheinflammationlasts,usethecataplasmofboiledgarlic。

Andifbythesemeanshebefreedfromthepain,itisenough;butifnot,givehimthewhitemeconium(Euphorbiapeplus?),or,ifnotit,anyotherphlegmagoguemedicine。Whiletheinflammationlasts,thedietshouldbelight。

7。Thestrangurycomesoninthisway:Thebladderbeingheatedfromtherectum,phlegmisattractedbytheheat,andbythephlegm(inflammation?)thestranguryisoccasioned。If,then,asisfrequentlythecase,itceasewiththedisease,well;but,notwithstanding,ifnot,giveanyofthemedicinesforstrangury。

8。Ifprocidentiaanitakeplace,havingfomentedthepartwithasoftsponge,andanointeditwithasnail,bindtheman\'shandstogether,andsuspendhimforashorttime,andthegutwillreturn。
