Themanleftthecountry，whichplainlyshowedthathewasnouncleofAladdin’sbutacunningmagician，whohadreadinhismagicbooksofawonderfullamp，whichwouldmakehimthemostpowerfulmanintheworld。Thoughhealoneknewwheretofindit，hecouldonlyreceiveitfromthehandofanother。HehadpickedoutthefoolishAladdinforthispurpose，intendingtogetthelampandkillhimafterwards。
FortwodaysAladdinremainedinthedark，cryingandlamenting。
Atlastheclaspedhishandsinprayer，andinsodoingrubbedthering，whichthemagicianhadforgottentotakefromhim。
Immediatelyanenormousandfrightfulgenieroseoutoftheearth，saying:\"Whatwouldstthouwithme？IamtheSlaveoftheRing，andwillobeytheeinallthings。\"Aladdinfearlesslyreplied，\"Delivermefromthisplace！\"whereupontheearthopened，andhefoundhimselfoutside。Assoonashiseyescouldbearthelighthewenthome，butfaintedonthethreshold。Whenhecametohimselfhetoldhismotherwhathadpassed，andshowedherthelampandthefruitshehadgatheredinthegarden，whichwereinrealitypreciousstones。Hethenaskedforsomefood。\"Alas！
