AnythingliketheabsoluteprepossessionofCaptainJimbythisstrangerwehadneverimagined。Heapproachedusrunningalittleaheadofhisguest,andnowandthenreturningassuringlytohissidewiththeexpressionofadevotedNewfoundlanddog,whichinfluffinesshegenerallyresembled。Andnow,evenaftertheintroductionwasover,whenhemadeapointofstandingasideinanaffectationofcarelessness,withhishandsinhispockets,thesimulationwassoapparent,andhisconsciousnessandabsorptioninhisfriendsoobvious,thatitwasarelieftoustorecallhimintotheconversation。
