Aroundit,eachinitsownhedgedgarden,nestled\"LasCasas\"——theHouses——twentyinnumber,withwindingshadedpaths,groupsofraretrees,awildernessofflowers,betweenandaboutthem。Inonecornerwasaplaygroundforchildren——awallaroundthis,thattheymightshoutinfreedom;andthenurserytherebygaveeveryprovisionforthehappinessandsafetyofthelittleones。

Thepeoplepouredalongthewindingwalls,enteredtheprettycottages,weremuchimpressedbyalittleflockofwell—flooredtentsinanothercorner,butcamebackwithOhs!andAhs!ofdelighttothelargebuildingintheAvenue。

Dianthawentallovertheplace,inchbyinch,hereyeswideningwithadmiration;Mr。andMrs。PorneandMrs。Weatherstonewithher。Sheenjoyedtheserene,well—plannedbeautyofthewhole;approvedheartilyofthecottages,eachonealittledifferent,eachcharminginitsquietprivacy,admiredtheplentifularrangementsforpleasureandgayassociation;butherprofessionalsoulblazedwithenthusiasmoverthegreatkitchens,cleanasahospital,glitteringinglassandcopperandcooltiling,withtheswift,sureelectricstove。
